Susan Werner makes NPR's Story of the Day. While I 'm on NPR I might as well mention this amusing schadenfreudlich story about bait cars which includes a video of two thieves in one such car.

This Venuzuelan program has been in the news lately but it's still surprising to find the AJC reporting on it. I almost bought the Dudamel recording of Beethoven 5 and 7 last year, but I have enough recordings of both. CD Review did give the 7th a glowing review, though, so maybe I'll get it one of these days.

"The study appears to support the "hygiene hypothesis" which argues a rise in conditions like asthma and allergies could be linked to a lack of exposure to various micro-organisms." The effect size isn't mentioned and the author doesn't mention that the serotonin theory is questionable anyway, but it's still interesting.
